H. MONCAYO
Hector (H.) Moncayo is probably best known for his portraits, especially those of old men and old women. The men are usually lighting a cigarette or pipe and the women holding a candle. The backgrounds are usually different shades of darker browns. They are generally found in pairs, and usually there is some "flirtatiousness" communicating between the two paintings. H. also does landscapes with mountains and thatch huts, and these are usually quite detailed and have a definite ambiance to them. We know that H. has copied at least one painting by VanDyke.
